Why publish with Fatcat Press?

We're fair.

Authors can examine our contract in advance.

We only ask for the rights we need. We contract for electronic rights, for a period of 3 years from date of publication. Authors keep their ownership of all other rights.

We pay authors.

We pay royalties at a rate of 50% net sales.

We pay royalties once each quarter.

Authors don't pay us.

Authors do not pay us any money, at any time, for any reason.

We're pros.

Staff members have collectively worked in book publishing for more than thirty years.

Staff members have collectively worked in technology for more than twenty years.

Fatcatters have attended the Radcliffe Publishing Course (now at Columbia). We've exhibited and participated at lots and lots of tech, publishing, and scholarly conferences. Using our trusty computers and handhelds we've acquired manuscripts, written contracts, translated manuscripts, copyedited and proofread manuscripts, designed jackets, written catalog copy and advertisements. We've done those things using WordPerfect, Word, Unix, Notepad, Wordpad, NotaBene, DreamWeaver, FrontPage, MobiPocket, TealDoc, PhotoShop, Fireworks, HTML, and SGML (to name a few), and we've used everything from an IBM186 and a Mac Plus to Windows XP and a Tungsten T|X.

We've given addresses to numerous trade and scholarly associations, including the American Association of University Presses, the Society for Technical Communication, and the International Conference on South Asian Studies, just to name a handful.
